And... we've got some BIG news to share! While we're keeping our secret under wraps from the world a little longer, we wanted YOU, as a member of the Make My Shave Community, to be the first to hear, so keep reading for a reveal that's going to make your skin tingle with excitement.

But first.

How to handle ingrown hairs this Spring:

As we begin dusting off our favourite beach towel and bikini, we also know that it's that time of year where we start shaving in some places that might be more sensitive to ingrown hairs. Yup, we're talking shaving bikini lines amongst other areas delicate areas. 🍑

Navigating the tricky terrain of ingrown hairs is like mastering an art form, but fear not, we're here to guide you through it.

These pesky little rebels make themselves known when hair decides to take a detour and grow back into the skin instead of gracefully making its way out.

What often fuels this hair rebellion?

It's usually a mix of improper hair removal methods, like shaving too close or a rendezvous with a dull or dirty razor. Tight clothing, sweat and skin friction can also fan the flames of ingrowns.

While experiencing ingrown hairs is completely normal, it can be annoying. But as your personal shave support crew, we've got some clever tricks up our sleeve to reduce the risk of getting them, which also means less need for painful tweezing. Ouch.

Regular exfoliation is your secret weapon in helping those hairs break free from their skin snare. Our Body Buff Duo is perfect for this, or why not whip up a homemade coffee scrub?

To make sure you're well equipped, we've prepared an easy body scrub recipe for you below.

But remember - exfoliation can be a bit of a diva too, so remember to never overdo it; exfoliating once or twice a week is your sweet spot.

Make sure your skin is suitably wet, then take the time to exfoliate gently, turning this practice into a moment of sweet self-care. We recommend the exfoliation ritual takes place before you reach for your razor.

Before shaving, check that your blades are sharp and clean. If you do have sensitive skin and suffer from ingrows, try shaving in the direction your hair grows. While this might leave your shave a fraction less close, you are setting up the hair follicles so that they are able to grow out snag free.

Moisturising after shaving is an absolute MUST. But, make sure you use a moisturiser that works for your skin type. Harsh fragrances can irritate your skin.

If ingrown hairs persist or become painful, consult a dermatologist for professional guidance on treatment and prevention.

How to make a homemade body scrub:

If you're a fan of homemade and eco-friendly body care options, why not try out this coffee body scrub that will leave your skin smooth and delicious.

Body Scrub ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of used coffee grounds: Recycle those leftover coffee grounds from your morning brew.
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar: This acts as an exfoliant, helping to remove dead skin cells.
  • 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil: Provides moisturisation and gives the scrub a lovely consistency.
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract: Adds a fresh fragrance.

Instructions:

Mix the Coffee Grounds and Brown Sugar: In a mixing bowl, combine the used coffee grounds and brown sugar. The coffee grounds provide exfoliation, while the brown sugar helps to remove dead skin cells.

Add the Coconut Oil: Slowly add 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil to the dry mixture. Start with 2 tablespoons and add more if needed to achieve your desired consistency. The coconut oil not only binds the scrub together but also provides moisture to your skin. Coconut is one of our favourite hero ingredients.

Stir in Vanilla Extract: For a delightful scent, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Mix Well: Stir all the ingredients until well combined. You should have a slightly moist but crumbly mixture.

Store in an Airtight Container: Transfer your coffee body scrub into an airtight container or jar. Make sure it's sealed well to keep the scrub fresh.

How to Use:

  1. In the shower, wet your skin with warm water, allowing it to soften.
  2. Apply the coffee body scrub to your skin using gentle, circular motions.
  3. Pay extra attention to areas where you want to exfoliate, like your knees, elbows and feet. Don't forget your bikini line and legs.
  4. Leave the scrub on your skin for a few minutes to allow the natural ingredients to work their magic.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  6. Pat your skin dry gently with a towel.
  7. Enjoy the invigorating scent and silky-smooth skin
